Postdoc Positions at Freie Universität Berlin

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

China Scholarship Council and Freie Universität Berlin have signed an agreement to establish a postdoctoral research program which provides opportunities and scholarships for qualified young scholars to conduct post-doctoral research at FUB. This program aims at supporting highly-qualified postdocs with international research experience and integrating them into the university’s research networks. 

Freie Universtaet Berlin offers a list with open postdoctoral research positions only available for Chinese PhD graduates from a Chinese university or research institution.

Starting in summer 2014, each selected postdoctoral researcher will be funded by the CSC - at first for 12 months. If both parties - Chinese Postdoc and German Research Group leader – agree, there is a possibility to apply to the CSC for the extension of a second year research stay which is funded by the German side.

Program information and requirements:

l  The call is open to experienced researchers (preferable from 985 universities and partners of FU) who match the postdoc positions which are offered by FU Berlin (check the list with the offered positions: http://www.fu-berlin.de/en/sites/china/foerdermoeglichkeiten/fuer_chinesen/CSC-Postdoc-Program/Postdoc-postitions-2014/index.html)

l  Candidates are hold a doctoral degree (PhD degree) at latest in Summer 2014

l  Applicants completed their doctoral degree at a CHINESE university.

Application process:

Candidates should directly apply for admission to FUB-Beijing Office

Candidates should specify in their application that they apply under the FUB/CSC cooperation agreement;

Applicants have to submit a project plan based around the research fields/ key topics of the offered postdoc projects.

FUB will evaluate the candidates and forward all information to the project leader

In February, FUB will provide each qualified candidate with an offer letter and CSC a nomination list including all qualified candidates

Receiving an offer letter from FUB, candidates must also apply to CSC for funding (forms are available online at apply.csc.edu.cn) by April, 5th, 2014.

u  CSC will evaluate the candidates and provide FUB with a final list of scholarship recipients and inform the successful candidates.

The language of instruction will be German or English, depending on the research area. Excellent language skills are required and can be verified by certificates or a personal statement by the research group leader after an interview.

Motivational letter: Why are you interested in the offered postdoc project? How would you like to develop the project?

Copies of certificates

Statement concerning the offered postdoc and how to link to the project and  research area at FUB (1-2 pages)

Abstract of PhD dissertation or PhD dissertation if possible

letter of recommendation

Transcripts of Records (ToR) of the Master and PhD program (in English and authorized)

Language certificates (IELTS 6,5 OR Toefl 95 ibt) are desirable but the language skills can also be confirmed by the research group leader of FUB
